Earlier this week, OK Magazine reported that ABC wanted Pro Football Hall of Famer and Giants legend, Michael Strahan, to replace outgoing host Chris Harrison, but that did not happen.
“The After the Final Rose ceremony taping has been delayed until ABC can find the perfect host. Rachel Lindsay was their first choice, but she declined. Next they looked at several other former bachelors, bachelorettes or suitors from the show but in the end, they decided that this show was so important to the future of the franchise,” the OK! source dishes. “They needed someone who was not only popular and charming but also have a massive amount of live TV experience — which is why they want Michael Strahan.
“There is so much concern about the future of the show within ABC,” the insider adds. “If they don’t get this episode right they could kill the cash cow. There is talk about taping the show rather than doing it live.”
Instead, Strahan was passed over for another former Giant and retired NFL player… Emmanuel Acho.

Acho announced the news via Twitter on Saturday.
A sixth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 NFL draft, Acho had a professional career that spanned four seasons. In addition to his time with the Browns and Giants (2013), Acho also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles (2013-2015).

In 20 career games (two starts), Acho recorded 31 tackles, including two for a loss.
Since stepping away from the game of football, Acho has had a moderately successful media career, including stints with ESPN and FOX Sports, where he currently serves as an analyst on “Speak for Yourself.”
It’s unclear if Acho will take over as the permanent host for “The Bachelor” or just serve as a fill-in until ABC makes a final decision.
