Mississippi is among the small group of states that legalized sports betting in 2018.
In 2017, the Magnolia State repealed the portion of its law prohibiting the activity, and gaming officials said they were ready to move forward with regulations. Federal law stood in the way until recently, but the US Supreme Courtremoved that hurdle in May 2018

While Mississippi does not allow horse racing, licensed casinos are able to operate as water-borne riverboats. In addition, Native American casinos are legal in the state.
